Our background and experience

velev consulting was founded and is run by Maria Veleva. Maria has more than 20 years of clinical research experience and a strong record of delivering highly effective and fit-for-purpose quality solutions. Her previous professional roles have touched every stage of the clinical trials process, from pre-clinical research to late-stage clinical development.

Maria’s clinical research career began back in 2001 as a Clinical Research Associate at one of the biggest global clinical research organisations. Maria later moved up into clinical lead and project manager roles at both CROs and pharmaceutical companies.

Additionally, Maria has been driving business improvement initiatives that impact global processes, people and tools, and which create value for internal stakeholders and external partners.

Over the subsequent decade, she acquired extensive experience in creating novel solutions and operational quality strategies for different parts of the business and in multiple geographies. She has been overseeing clinical trials from a Quality point of view for key market segments and created and drove various Quality improvement initiatives.

Maria is results-oriented and known for her energetic working style and skilled collaboration, motivating and leading cross-functional teams to execute challenging, global, large-scale projects or business improvement initiatives.

Maria started velev consulting, focusing on helping healthcare sector organisations develop their projects in the best way possible, and supporting them to achieve their goals by implementing process improvements, rigorous Quality assessment and control steps.

Maria holds a Medical Doctor’s degree from the Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. She is a member of RQA.
